The Fine Art Of Cosmetic Dentistry

Today everyone wants a beautiful smile. When a person looks and feels good, they have a strong self image. People who feel good about themselves interact positively with family, friends and business contacts. A beautiful, confident smile plays a significant role in your self image.

Advances in modern dentistry make it easy to restore a life like beauty to teeth that are stained, chipped, crooked, missing or seperated by a wide space.

Now You Have A Choice

Many adults dislike their crooked teeth and think that the only solution is lengthy orthodontic treatment with braces. Thanks to improved technology and materials, Dr. Flanagin can now skillfully and quickly change these crowded, crooked and missing teeth into beautiful smiles.  Cosmetic dentistry is no longer just for the front teeth. Those old silver fillings that have made your back teeth dark and unattractive can now be replaced with state-of-the-art materials that will make your teeth stronger, healthier and more attractive.

What are porcelain veneers?

Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are fabricated with the help of a dental laboratory. They generally cover the tops and front of the teeth. Veneers can be used to whiten teeth as well as correct problems like chipped, misshapen, crooked or worn teeth.

The procedure.

Porcelain veneers are custom created to fit your teeth. On your first visit, we carefully remove a thin layer of enamel. Then we take impressions of your teeth. A dental lab uses these impressions to build a model of your teeth, then creates the veneers on the model.

You'll love your new smile!

Once they're in place, veneers virtually become party of your teeth. You can use them like you would your own teeth, because they are extremely strong. Your final result is more beautiful, normal-looking new smile!

New Teeth For A New Smile

Do you avoid laughing aloud, smiling, or eating in public because your denture may slip or a space left by missing teeth may show? If so, dental implants may improve the way you feel about your teeth. No matter how many teeth you're missing, dental implants may make it possible for you to eat an speak with comfort and confidence again.

When Teeth Are Missing

You may have spaces in your mouth where teeth were lost or removed or never grew in. Although those spaces may be embarrassing, traditional dental restoration may not be the best solution. You may not want to sacrifice the structure of surrounding good teeth to bridge a space.  Removing a complete or partial denture at night may be inconvenient. Added to this is the discomfort and possible embarrassment caused by a denture that slips.

Consider Dental Implants

If you want a dental restoration that looks and feels as though it is a part of your mouth, dental implants may be right for you. Used successfully for many years, dental implants anchor prosthetic teeth into your jawbone to provide a secure, stable fit. Implants can meet your individual needs whether you're missing all, a few, or only one of your teeth.

Implants Are Like Teeth

Your natural teeth are stable biting and chewing surfaces because they are supported by your jawbone. This will also be true of your dental implant. Successful dental implants become firmly embedded in the jaw, providing a chewing surface almost as secure as that of natural teeth.

Roots Hold Crowns

The crowns of your natural teeth are held in place by roots. Roots not only secure your  crowns, they also help keep you jaw healthy by stimulating the growth of new bone. This provides good support for your teeth.

Implants Hold a Prosthesis

The prosthesis is held into place by implants, which are usually made of titanium. Since this metal is well accepted by the body, titanium implants rarely cause reactions. Like the roots of natural teeth, implants also stimulate new bone growth in the jaw.

Implants Have Different Shapes

An implant may be threaded like a screw or may be cylindrical in shape with a slightly rough or textured surface. Implants often have small holes at their lower ends. Over time, bone grows into these surface irregularities, locking implants into place.
